Today you are going to view a couple of PowerPoints and take some notes. Please take detailed notes on both PowerPoint presentations, as you will have a test at the end of the week and you will want to use your notes. The first presentation is about immigration and the immigrant experience during the Gilded Age. The second presentation focuses on American's continued migration westward during the Gilded Age. I have added some voice over to several of the slides. Fair warning, these are not the most polished lectures but I try to emphasize the key information that you need to know in order to be successful on future quizzes/tests. You should see a speaker icon in the top left hand corner of each slide which you can click to start the recording. If you are not using a computer that has Microsoft PowerPoint and are planning on viewing the PowerPoints on your phone, please download the free Microsoft PowerPoint App. All you have to do is download the app and register with an active email address. If you don't have an email, make a Gmail account! This will allow you to view the PowerPoints in their full form and hear the recorded lecture. Once you've downloaded the PPT file on your phone, open it in the Microsoft PPT App to view it. Both PPTs are linked below. After viewing the second PPT, watch a short video excerpt on Native American boarding schools (around minute 39:30- minute 46:00 of the video), video linked below. AP US History students, in addition to the PPTs, you also have a Chapter 15 (16 of the online book) reading quiz on StudyIsland. Login to StudyIsland and complete the quiz before the end of the day.
